Concerns Raised Over Supply Of Bulk Gas Across Ireland

Concerns have been raised about the supply of bulk gas across Ireland.

Sinn Fein said there are many homes across the country being supplied through bulk gas (LPG) by companies such as Calor Gas and Flo Gas, where there is limited alternative and no protection given by the regulator.

Spokesperson for the Environment Brian Stanley said he has questioned the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) in relation to their remit in protecting these customers and they have said they have no powers.


He said: "The definition of vulnerable customer for instance, which are those energy users that cannot be cut off in winter months, would seem to include these customers, yet powers are not provided to CER to act.

"All householders should be on an equal footing when it comes to regulatory protection, such as the CER's customer complaints mechanism, irrespective of the manner of supply into their homes."
