CEF Welcomes High Court Decision

Construction News Image
The Construction Employers Federation (CEF) has welcomed news that a judicial challenge to the A6 Randalstown - Castledawson road scheme, focusing on the Toome – Randalstown section, has been overturned by the High Court.

CEF Managing Director John Armstrong said: "The long overdue dualling of the A6 is of significant strategic economic importance to Northern Ireland as it will enhance our attractiveness and competitiveness as a region to do business and invest in.

"With a clear ruling having now been laid, it is vital that work on the scheme is allowed to begin as soon as possible. The Graham/Farrans Joint Venture that is responsible for its delivery stands ready to deliver significant direct and indirect economic benefits once they are on site, benefits that will equate to hundreds of sustainable jobs over the course of the project as well as many opportunities for their extensive supply chain. At a time of significant budget uncertainty due to the ongoing political impasse, the vital importance of this scheme cannot be overlooked."
