Economy Minister Slammed Over Solutions To RHI Scheme

An Ulster Unionist MLA has slammed Economy Minster Simon Hamilton for failing to work on solutions over the botched Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme.

Mr Steve Aiken said Minister Hamilton said the same six months ago, however he still has not produced anything.

He said: "We had the First Minister writing in the press this that she would be sharing the detail of the plan to reduce the costs of RHI with the Economy Assembly Committee this week. I have checked Mrs Foster's comments with the Committee to see if anything had been received from the Department for this week's Committee meeting. The Department for the Economy has clarified in writing that this will not be happening. It is clear that the Executive, Mrs Foster and the Economy Minister are all over the place on these serious issues.


"It is also clear that while the DUP and Sinn Fein engage in party political point scoring, any potential solutions are being lost in the smoke. As another day passes, another £85,000 goes up in flames."
