Wastewater Treatment Plant In Shannon To Be Upgraded

Over €3 million is being invested in the wastewater treatment plant in Shannon.

Irish Water has partnered with Clare County Council to carry out improvement works at the plant which include cleaning and surveying the sewers.

The survey work on the town's sewer network is now complete. Over 30km of wastewater pipes were cleaned and surveyed as part of the €600,000 project in order to identify any repair, upgrade or replacement needs on the network.

As part of the ongoing upgrade works, it is proposed to clean the existing Domestic Aeration Basins at Tradaree Wastewater Treatment Plant. These works are scheduled to take place from Monday, 09 January and will continue for a period of two weeks, up to 23 January.

While the work is being carried out, some areas adjacent to the wastewater treatment plant may experience temporary odours as a result of the cleaning of the tanks.
