SF Hits Out At FF And FG Over Water Charges

Sinn Féin has hit out at Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil following continual leaks to the media indicating that the expert commission is set to propose a system of domestic charges.

Sinn Féin spokesperson on water Eoin Ó Broin TD said people do not want a minimal charge they want the water charges to be abolished.


He said: "That is the democratic mandate of the majority of TDs elected to the 32nd Dáil. The leaks confirm what Joe O'Toole said at the start of this process. The purpose of this expert commission was to find a solution to the debacle with 'enough sugar on it to make the medicine go down more easily'.

"The whole process to date has been nothing more than a stitch up between Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil to return Enda Kenny as Taoiseach. The heat has not been taking out of the debate on the domestic water charges issue and as long as any sort of charge remains on the table, the saga is set to continue."
