New Heritage Development Opens In Co Fermanagh

A new heritage development has officially opened in Co Fermanagh.

The Fermanagh Heritage Gateway is located at Enniskillen Castle and has been spearheaded by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.

The development has been undertaken over the past 18 months, with contributions from the Historic Environment Division of DfC.

Communities Minister Paul Givan said: "This is a major asset for the county and for Northern Ireland, and will serve as a destination, an important resource for the local community, and as a starting point to explore and discover the rich heritage in the area. It is fitting that it sits within Enniskillen Castle, one of the key monuments in State Care in County Fermanagh."

The project, which cost £3.5million, was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the European Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland 2007-2013 administered by Tourism Northern Ireland, DfC Historic Environment Division, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and the Friends of Fermanagh County Museum.
