'Boil Water' Notice In Waterford Expected To Last Another Six Weeks

A 'Boil Water' notice affecting around 350 households on the Ring Helvick Water Supply Scheme in Co Waterford is expected to last for another six weeks.

Irish Water put the notice in place on 15 July following concerns that the disinfection process may have been compromised.

The firm is currently working on resolving the issue by installing additional valves and hydrants to allow for more effective flushing of water in the network improving water quality.


It is also building a section of pipework which will link to the nearby Robert's Cross Water Supply, which will allow a number of customers to be supplied from the scheme.

In addition Irish Water is progressing with work to replace the existing sections of cast iron mains in the Ring Helvick Water Supply.

In a statement the firm said: "Irish Water appreciates the inconvenience caused as a result of the Boil Water Notice and we wish to apologise to all customers affected. We will continue to keep local residents and councillors updated on these works and our efforts to enable the lifting of the boil water notice as soon as possible."
