Irish Water Accused Of Wasting Tax Payer's Money

Irish Water has been accused of wasting tax payer's money for failing to properly address ongoing problems with the sewerage system in Co Offaly.

Some residents living on the Ballyclare Road and Ferbane have been forced to move out of their homes due to the strong odour coming from nearby manholes.

Sinn Féin TD Teachta Carol Nolan has called on Irish Water to immediately give a commitment to implement a long term solution that will address the needs of residents.

Teachta Nolan said: "I have raised this issue with Irish Water on numerous occasions and I am glad that they will meet with Oireachtas members on this issue.

"I am aware that Irish Water has tried the use of chemicals to resolve the issue and this has not been successful.

"I am also aware that Irish Water is proposing the installation of a vented manhole in a further attempt to address this issue."
