A water and waste solutions company and a civil engineering firm have officially opened new offices in Loughrea, Co Galway.
Glan Agua and MEIC are subsidiaries of Mota-Engil, who are expanding their operations in Ireland through the two firms. The move will lead to the creation of 60 new jobs over five years.
The project is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation through IDA Ireland.
Glan Agua Limited and MEIC Limited are owned by the Mota-Engil Group, a leading company in the construction and infrastructure management sector in Europe, and by GKM, a holding construction company.
Minster for Jobs Enterprise and Innovation Mary Mitchell O'Connor TD said: "I welcome the announcement that Glan Agua is expanding in Ireland and bringing 60 quality technical jobs to Galway. I am delighted that this will benefit Loughrea and the surrounding areas. One of my priorities as Minister is creating an environment where job growth can thrive, particularly in rural Ireland. I believe only a strong economy supporting people at work can pay for the services needed to create a fair society."
CEO of Mota-Engil, Gonçalo Moura Martins said: "With the opening of new offices and the goal of creating 60 new jobs in Ireland in the coming years, Mota-Engil is reaffirming its commitment to this market and our intent to continue to invest in this country in order to be a leader in the technical areas in which we operate. We are also committed to developing career opportunities and training for young local engineers to expand our activity not only in Ireland but also in the UK."
