New Primary Care Centre To Be Developed In Co Tipperary

A new primary care centre is to be developed in Carrick-On-Suir in Co Tipperary.

The funding has been secured by the European Investment Bank (EIB).

Labour Tipperary Senator Denis Landy welcomed the news.

He said: "Typically, local Primary Care Centres, allow people to access locally a wide range of services including GP, community nursing, dental, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, speech & language therapy, mental health, counselling, home help and nutrition. It is very welcome that people in Carrick will now have access to an enhanced range of services throughout the week.


"Enhancing primary care makes sense in every way as it promotes greater health and wellbeing, a preventative approach to healthcare as well as taking pressure off local hospitals, and in particular local emergency departments.

"Labour has championed the rollout of enhanced GP and Primary Care Centres so that people can get as broad a range of treatment as possible in their local community. In government, we took important first steps in this regard including prioritising free GP care for the youngest and oldest in our society, and completing the construction of 90 primary care centres across the country."
