FF And FG Accused Of 'Acting Together' To Block TDs Voting Over Water Charges

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have been accused of "acting together" to block TDs debating and voting over water charges.

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD said the parties had reduced the Dáil to "an echo chamber".

Mr Adams said: "Last week, thirty nine TDs submitted a motion for debate and vote to end Irish Water and water charges.


"Both Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil have sought to deal with the issue as part of a back room deal in Trinity. They have even failed at this.

"Under pressure, it appears that both parties have contrived to allow for statements to be made without a vote.

"All TDs should be allowed to debate and vote on the motion submitted by the group of thirty nine TDs."
