Oral Hearing Confirmed For North-South Interconnector

An Bord Pleanála has confirmed the oral hearing in relation to the North-South Interconnector is to take place in March.

A team from Sinn Féin will be attending the hearing to argue the case for undergrounding.

Sinn Féin's Kathryn Reilly is calling on communities and those presenting or attending the hearing to be ready to put together the strongest possible case for undergrounding.


Senator Reilly said: "Sinn Fein will be sending a strong team to the hearing and despite the intensity of the current campaigning for the General Election we are still as committed as ever to having the North-South Interconnector undergrounded.

"We all need to be strong on this issue and make sure that after the election the people and parties who said they would support undergrounding stay true to their word.

"The communities of Cavan, Monaghan, and Meath have made it be known that they will not accept 400kv overhead power-lines and associated pylons on their landscapes. They have shown their opposition individually and through organisations such as the NEPP. In recent meetings it is clear that their determination is as resolute as ever."
