Ecolcel cellulose insulation is manufactured in Cork city at the Marina Commercial Park, which is a ten minute walk from the city centre.
As Ecocel Cellulose is manufactured from recycled newspapers and locally sourced, when installed in an attic in Cork, it is carbon negative which means no emissions.
Because it is made from natural fibres, it will last the lifespan of the building. In a retrofit situation it is not possible to fit vapour check (air tightness membrane).

Ecocel as it is installed in attics, creates an airtight thermal barrier with no gaps and is 30 per cent safer than no insulation in a fire.
Ecocel substitutes and avoids the use of petrochemical insulations, which have a big embodied carbon level and reduces imports. Ecocel stores the carbon that was sequestered by trees and prevents CO2 from remitting to the atmosphere from decaying waste.
By using a locally produced, safer in fire, and better thermal performance product in houses across the city - as well as in those under the control of the City Council - Cork could become the leading city in Ireland in relation to reducing carbon emissions.
