Programme To Improve Electricity Infrastructure Enters Final Stage

A programme to upgrade and improve the electricity infrastructure in Co Roscommon is now in its final stages.

ESB Networks said the €1.4 investment programme in the Cloonfad and Ballinlough areas will benefir the communities and held local firms grow.

Taking place between 2 and 20 November, the works will involve some disruption to customer electricity supplies during the period.


Geoff Prendergast, ESB Networks Area Manager for Castlebar/Tuam, said: "Over the past decade, ESB Networks has invested over €6 billion in upgrading Ireland's electricity network. This has significantly improved network reliability and efficiency, with the average customer now experiencing less than three hours of lost power annually, a 70 per cent reduction on pre-investment levels. The work in North Roscommon will be undertaken by up to 40 highly skilled ESB Network Technicians from Tuam, Carrick on Shannon, Longford, Roscommon and Castlebar."
