Kingspan Environmental Welcomes NI Businesses To Portadown Plant

A group of delegates from the Energy Institute's Northern Ireland branch recently visited Kingspan Environmental's state-of-the-art manufacturing plant on Portadown’s Gilford Road, where they were informed how they can benefit from existing grants for commercial businesses.

Eamon Clarke from Kingspan Solar, a part of Kingspan Environmental, informed business leaders from across Northern Ireland about the non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) for businesses, which entitles commercial proprieties to 20 years of quarterly payments for installing Solar Thermal technology.

"As one of the most cost-effective and environmentally-friendly renewable energy solutions available, the business case for solar thermal makes sense," explained Eamon Clarke, Technical Sales Manager with Kingspan Solar.

Eamon continued: "However, with the added bonus of the non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), businesses in the commercial, agricultural and industrial sectors that use a high volume of hot water could be saving thousands of pounds per annum on their hot water requirements."


Well-placed to advise on the non-domestic RHI, one of Kingspan Environmental’s leading ranges is Kingspan Solar, which houses the market-leading Thermomax and Varisol products in its portfolio. Designed and manufactured in Northern Ireland, specifically for a northern European climate, both Thermomax and Varisol solar evacuated tubes are 30% more efficient than competing products. It’s this superior efficiency that has led to the installation of more than 14 million Thermomax evacuated tubes worldwide.

With the introduction of the non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive, businesses now have an additional reason to avail of Solar Thermal technology. In addition to generating their own free energy, businesses can protect themselves from future fuel price rises, reduce their carbon footprints, reduce their energy bills and avail of the renewable heat incentive payments over a 20 year period.

The non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive is administered by Ofgem with tariff rates and policy set by DETI. Installations that took place prior to the launch of the non-domestic RHI (November 2012), dating back until 1 September 2010, will also be eligible to apply for accreditation under the scheme.
