Communities Commended For Blocking Irish Water From Entering Their Estates

The people of Balbriggan, Skerries, Rush and Lusk have been commended by Sinn Féin for continuing to block Irish Water from entering their estates to install water meters.

Fingal Sinn Féin councillor Malachy Quinn, said: "I know that many of them come out as early as 6am every day. Many have spoken of how they didn't even know their neighbours before this. Now these people are travelling around making sure all areas are covered, making tea and coffees, and standing proud within their communities.One lady even told me of how she has formed good friendships with neighbours she never even met, arising out of the water charge resistance. Some people are even going out before they travel to work and also parents who stand united after dropping off their children to school. We need to keep up this strength and unity as I believe we can defeat the water charges."
