If you have ever desired one of the high-end bathrooms that are often showcased in your favourite home-improvement magazines, you're certainly not alone. However, the reality is that many home owners have quite small bathrooms and it may seem that the luxury of a high-end bathroom is beyond their reach.
Well, in this article PD Plumbing Supplies will offer a few tips on making the most of a smaller bathroom, and explain how you can relatively easily transform it into a bathroom that looks bigger and feels more luxurious.
Many older houses (and some newer ones too) have bathrooms that are only 5 x 8. So in order to use that space wisely you need to install sanitary ware that is smaller in scale. For example, installing a modern but smaller-size pedestal sink will save space. The same applies to the toilet; if possible, install a close to wall toilet and cistern.
If you choose from our 'Neue' range of sanitary ware you can have affordable luxury. If you have a large bath that is rarely used then maybe you could replace it with a smaller one fitted with high-quality bath panels to add a touch of luxury. You could even get rid of the bath altogether and put in a larger more luxurious shower cubicle.
Choosing bright colours for the paint and tiles will also create a sense of more space. If retiling, then try to use long tiles (width greater than height) as this will also create an illusion of space.
For bathroom cabinets, choose a white, pine or a light oak finish, and use slim and narrow cabinets – and have a clearout so that you only store the products that you actually need. We will soon be displaying the 'Neue' range of cabinets on our site.
The right lighting can also make a big difference. Use several recessed ceiling lights, as well as mirror lights; while a frameless, long horizontal mirror can help stretch the wall space and create the illusion of a much larger bathroom.
As you can see, there are a number of ways to make a small bathroom spacious, stylish and luxurious. Check out the bathroom range at the PD Plumbing Supplies website.
