Irish Water Is Toxic – Doolan

Sinn Féin is calling for all councillors to stay away from a meeting with Irish Water this Friday.

Dublin City Councillor Daithí Doolan said the meeting with Irish Water at the City Hall is a "propaganda stunt".

He said: "Irish Water is toxic. It should be scrapped along with the government's water charges. Sinn Féin will be boycotting the meeting and we are urging all councillors to do likewise. The meeting is an attempt to manipulate councillors into accepting an organisation that has no public credibility. If we need to raise concerns about leaks or flooding we can do so without expensive photo ops in City Hall.


"Sinn Féin will continue to actively campaign against water charges and Irish Water. We were successful in opposing water charges in the North in 2007. We aim to do the same here in the South. We want the island of Ireland to remain water charges free. People already pay for their domestic water in their taxes. It is both unjust and unacceptable to impose a second charge on households. No amount of Irish Water spin or government concessions will change that."
