UFU Meets With Minister To Discuss Concerns In Relation To Greening Requirements

The Ulster Farmers' Union (UFU) has expressed concerns about greening requirements under reform of the CAP.

The UFU met with Agricultural Minister Michelle O'Neill to discuss the concerns about the ability of industry to meet greening requirements in 2015, and focused in particular on the impact of Ecological Focus Areas (EFAs) on arable farmers.

Minister O'Neill said: "I welcome the opportunity to meet with the UFU delegation to discuss greening requirements. I recognise that it is a complex area and fully understand the industry's need for clarification on the relatively few outstanding greening issues.

"What we do know has already been disseminated to industry through the DARD website, the farming press and greening events for farmers.

"The greening events delivered in September were well attended and will be followed up with further workshops designed to help farmers comply."
