FF Councillor Jim O'Callaghan said: "The European Commission ruled three months ago on 7 May that the Poolbeg Incinerator project did not breach State Aid rules. The Chief Executive told Councillors that a decision on the future of the Incinerator would be made following the ruling.
"Three months have now passed and no decision has been made. The Chief Executive needs to scrap this wasteful project promptly. The longer this indecision proceeds the greater will be the financial drain on the city.
To date over €100 million has been spent on the project which was planned for a different era.

Mr O'Callaghan continued: "A project of this size will deter recycling and have a detrimental impact on one of Dublin's most scenic areas. The Chief Executive needs to heed the views of the elected representatives of Dublin City who have consistently opposed this project."
The Chief Executive for Dublin City Council, Mr Owen Keegan, previously stated that a decision on whether to proceed with the incinerator would be made after the EU's investigation into two complaints about the project were concluded.
Labour TD Kevin Humphreys is also calling for the Poolbeg Incinerator contract to be scrapped.
Mr Humphreys said: "Despite the decision of the EU Commission that the Poolbeg Incinerator project did not breach State aid rules today, it should still be scrapped as it is a major waste of public money, and a legacy of another era.
"The revised project would still have to approved by the National Development Finance Agency and then by the project board. Dublin City Manager Owen Keegan has also said he will seek the views of City Councillors before going ahead with the project.
"I would call on him to ensure no decision is made until after a new city council is elected, and like many who have opposed it since its inception, I believe it should be scrapped."
