Parties Slammed For Failing To Make Submissions On Water Charges

Two political parties have been slammed for failing to make submissions during the public consultation in relation to water charges.

Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin failed to make a submission within 30 days on a draft policy direction to the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER).

Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan, said "all political parties need greater investment".


Minister Hogan added: "The sad reality is that for Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin, beyond the ranting and complaining about water charges and problems with the public water system, when the time came for constructive proposals and policies, they were all talk and no action.

"It will be extremely hard to take either party seriously when they get up on their soapboxes once more, claiming to speak on behalf of the people. The public made submissions, but the Opposition parties failed."
