Feedback Sought On Queen's Parade Proposals

The public is being asked to help shape proposals for the future of Queen's Parade in Bangor, County Down.

Potential options to develop the site into a major mixed-use scheme have been drawn up by Turley Associates along with key stakeholders, and a public exhibition is now to be held to allow the community to view the designs.

The draft options for the project will be on display in:

• The Flagship Centre Bangor, from 16 – 20 June 2014.

• The Town Hall Bangor, from 16 – 30 June.

During the consultation event, representatives of the Design Team and the Department for Social Development will also be on hand to speak to members of the public and to listen to their views.

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland said: "My Department, in close conjunction with North Down Borough Council and other public, private and community stakeholders have been working with Turley Associates to draw up draft options for this key site in Bangor.

"For a number of years the town centre has suffered from a lack of investment and competition from out of town shopping. The redevelopment of this key site offers real opportunities for local regeneration which will help to contribute to the local economy and bring much needed improvement to the appearance of an area, much of which has lain derelict for many years.

"I want the wider public to have their say and I would encourage anyone with an interest in the future of Bangor to let us know what they think of the potential options."
