Funding Allocated For Projects Across The Waterside Area

Minister for Social Development, Nelson McCausland, has announced funding of £146,000 for a range of community group projects across the Waterside area of L'Derry.

The funding will be used to improve community facilities providing new equipment for groups and repair work for a number of buildings. The funding will also support additional community services such as cross community programmes, training programmes and social groups.


Announcing the funding the Minister said: "Tackling deprivation in our local communities can take on many forms, from improving community facilities to providing opportunities for local residents through training programmes and health and well-being activates. This funding in the Waterside area will enable local groups to enhance the services they provide for local residents.

"The funding to Older People North West and Caw Community Playgroup will enable both groups to maintain and enhance their facilities. Hillcrest House will extend their service delivery by employing a Community Support Worker. Clooney Estate Residents Association will work alongside Bonds Street and Lincoln Court to plan a programme of activities to facilitate these communities to work together, sharing resources and learning for the benefit of all residents."
