Ecocem Ireland Announce Increase In Sales

Ecocem Ireland, specialist producer of Ground Granulated Blast furnace Slag (GGBS) eco-friendly cement and low carbon concrete, has announced the appointments of Ciara Dunne as Group Marketing Manager and Susan McGarry as Environmental Manager.

Commenting on the recent promotions, Conor O’Riain, head of New Markets and New Products at Ecocem Material said: "We are delighted to announce the promotions of both Susan and Ciara. It is a very exciting time for Ecocem in terms of recent growth and indeed growth plans for the future. We are in the middle of a three year investment programme in Ireland and we are looking forward to this enabling us to enhance our manufacturing capacity and expand our exports of green cement across Europe."

Both Ciara and Susan were members of the inaugural Ecocem graduate recruitment programme which began in 2011. We started the programme at a time when recruitment opportunities in the construction industry were at an all-time low for graduates. Our aim was to create a programme where bright, young graduates were given the opportunity to grow and learn about the industry. Graduates receive support and training as well as mentoring from senior members of staff.

"Seeing how well candidates like Ciara and Susan worked out for us, we continue to hire interns for work placements through colleges and support projects and research each year. Not only that but we have been able to help other graduates on our programme open up new career opportunities and find roles more suited to their skills with companies Ecocem works with."

The announcement of these appointments comes on the back of Ecocem Ireland recently announcing an increase in sales and significant milestone of exceeding one million tonnes of product sold in twelve months. The million milestone and the increase in sales was aided by the diversification of products in Ireland, including the introduction of its eco-friendly cement in a 25kg bags earlier last year as well as a steady rise of sales in France.
