Mivan, based in Antrim, Northern Ireland, has been named as one of the UK businesses behind the development of Heathrow's brand new Terminal 2.
In a new report, the company is revealed to have successfully completed a prestigious £5.7million contract to help build the UK's newest airport terminal, set to open in June next year.
The £2.5bn infrastructure development is one of the of the largest privately funded construction projects in the UK. More than 140 UK businesses have been involved in its construction, drawing together expertise from across the country and supporting thousands of jobs.
Mivan will have their work showcased on a Global stage with more than 20 million passengers from around the world set to use the new terminal every year.
Speaking about the impact of Terminal 2 throughout the UK, Secretary of State for Transport, Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP said: "The building of Heathrow's Terminal 2 has delivered real benefits, not just to the South East but to many regions throughout the country as it has sourced the necessary skills, expertise, raw materials and services it needs.
"I am proud that we are known for having a high quality, highly skilled and hardworking supply chain. This report clearly demonstrates that infrastructure, engineering and construction companies across the country are sharing the benefits from projects such as T2 and helping to build a stronger UK economy."
The company has created 46 customer restrooms throughout Terminal 2, from partition walls, ceilings, floors, and cubicles, to furniture, fixtures and fittings.
The contract has already led to future growth opportunities. The experience has enabled Mivan to become part of the essential supply chain for future airport developments and directly led to a further project at Heathrow's Terminal 3. Elements of the work were produced off-site at Mivan's manufacturing facility, ensuring employment opportunities for local staff.
