Western Building Systems Completes 27 New School Builds

Construction firm Western Building Systems, based in County Tyrone, has achieved 'full marks' for hard work over the summer months, as it prepares to hand over 27 new school buildings to schools throughout Ireland and the UK, ready for the new school term.

The total value of the schools contracts is £31.5m, with around 650 people employed on the ground to deliver the buildings, which include nursery, primary and secondary schools, special needs units and sports halls.

Around 7,500 pupils will enjoy their new school facilities at more than 23 locations throughout Ireland and GB. Projects include a €11.5m Luttrellstown educational campus in Dublin, a €8.5m new school campus at Portlaoise, three new schools in Cork together worth €9m, as well as three schools in London and one in Coychurch, Wales.

Declan McCloskey, operations director for Western said: "We have had a very busy few months ensuring that these buildings could be completed before the beginning of the new school term. Western has a proven track record in delivering on price, design and programme – and in fact, we often finish major projects ahead of schedule. Sticking to the build programme is fundamental when working on schools projects, particularly so whenever you are working alongside a live school environment. Our ability to deliver so many high quality school buildings concurrently cements our position as one of the leading builders of schools in the UK and Ireland."
