Electric Ireland has announced details of Dancergy led by Mr Motivator at Electric Picnic.
Following the success of Dancergy in 2012, the 90's fitness personality is back to power the picnic with a series of Dancergy sessions on the Electric Ireland sustainable energy dancefloor. In addition, this year a limited number of festival goers will be able to light up the picnic at night with 5,000 Dancergy bands available from the Electric Ireland tent. Created by Xylobands in the UK and seen at the Coldplay Mylo Xyloto World Tour, these LED wristbands will be powered on by Twitter using the hashtag #dancergy.
Ken McKervey, Commercial Manager, Electric Ireland commented: "As Official Energy Partner to the Electric Picnic, Electric Ireland is delighted to show festival goers how much fun sustainability can be. Festival goers loved Mr. Motivator last year so we had to get him back again this year!"
With the installation of a sustainable energy dance floor at the Electric Ireland tent at Electric Picnic, Mr Motivator will lead daily dance sessions where festival goers will have the opportunity to take to the floor and generate power as the dancefloor converts the kinetic energy of dancing people into electricity.
Other measures that Electric Ireland are undertaking, in line with the sustainability ethos of the festival, include the provision of 6km of energy efficient festoon lighting around the camp sites and walk ways to the main arena to reduce the festival's lighting emissions by 80% and a bank of 25 solar panels to contribute towards the power requirement on site.
