Road Improvement Scheme To Start In Lisnaskea

Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a road improvement scheme costing £220,000 at Main Street, Lisnaskea.

The scheme involves resurfacing the carriageway along with drainage and footway improvements from the roundabout at Drumhaw to the mini-roundabout at the junction with B127 Water Street/Castle Lane.

Work will begin on Monday 5 August 2013. The preparatory work involving the laying new drainage, kerbing and footway resurfacing will take approximately five weeks after which the carriageway will be resurfaced in asphalt. It is envisaged the entire scheme should be completed within seven weeks.


Temporary traffic control measures will be operation for most of the works, however it will be necessary to close the street to traffic at night for one week in September to accommodate the laying of the final wearing course. Further details regarding the road closure will be advertised in due course.

The Minister said: "This substantial carriageway and footway resurfacing scheme at Main Street, Lisnaskea will result in greatly improved conditions for pedestrians and motorists alike and enhance the appearance of this market town."
