Work is now underway on NI Water's essential Sewer Improvement Scheme in the Circular Road and Southway Area of L'Derry.
The work will involve the installation of a new storm sewer and associated manholes, and it is anticipated that this programme of work will be completed by mid-August. The essential programme of work will improve the sewerage infrastructure in the area and reduce the risk of out of sewer flooding.
Work is underway at Southway, at the junction with Lonemoor Rd. The work will progress along Southway, onto the Circular Rd finishing at the junction with Lislane Drive.
In order to carry out the works, a temporary road closure between Lislane Drive and Southway Junction will be in place from Mon 22nd April, for a period of two weeks. Diversions will be in place via Lislane Drive / Iniscarn Road / Circular Road. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained from one side of the works and pedestrian access will be unaffected as this work progresses. However, parking will be restricted in the vicinity of the working area.
Advanced notice signs will be erected to advise the public of the dates of closures and diversionary routes will be clearly signposted. While manholes are open, the working areas will have warning signs and temporary barriers erected to protect the public from these hazards. The public are advised to stay out of these working areas for their own safety and we would also appeal for the support of parents to keep children and young people away from construction sites in this area.
