Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £125,000 major resurfacing scheme on Mahon Road, Portadown.
The resurfacing is from Armagh Road junction to approximately 200m past Mahon Industrial Estate. Work is due to begin on Monday 8 April and finish on Tuesday 30 April.
To help minimise disruption to road users and to protect the safety of the travelling public and contractors during the surfacing works , whilst ancillary works are on-going, traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic lights. Road closures will be in operation during weekends when the resurfacing operation is in progress.
During the weekend period Saturday 20 April – Sunday 21 April and again on Sunday 28 April this portion of Mahon Road will be closed to through traffic and suitably signed diversion routes will be in operation.
The Minister said: "My department has invested significant sums in the Portadown area in recent months to help improve the condition of the road network.
"Roads Service has made every effort to programme the necessary works operations, and traffic management arrangements, to minimise inconvenience to the public. Motorists, however, should be aware that some delays can be expected and they should allow additional time when planning journeys."
As with all works of this nature planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any unavoidable change.
Roads Service is aware that there will be some disruption to traffic while these improvements are being made and would ask all road users to exercise care and patience.
