£775k Resurfacing Projects Begin In Cookstown

Resurfacing schemes worth £775k are to get underway within the Cookstown and Magherafelt Council areas.

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy confirmed the news on Monday.

The resurfacing works includes:

•£175k at Sixtowns Road in Straw

•£250k at Coagh Road in Drumullan, Coagh

•£150k at Morgans Hill Road, Cookstown

•£200k at Magherafelt Road, Tobermore

The work is scheduled to begin on 11 March.

The Sixtowns Road in Straw extending from the Whitewater Bridge to Tonagh Road, and the Magherafelt Road, Tobermore from the Clooney Road to Dromore Road, are both within the Magherafelt District Council area.

Work scheduled for the Cookstown District Council area includes the Coagh Road in Drumullan extending from the Littlebridge Road to Drumagarrel Road and the Morgans Hill Road, Cookstown from Lissan Road to the Orritor Road.

Speaking about the resurfacing projects, Mr Kennedy said: "This significant investment will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of a number of rural carriageways within the Mid-Ulster area and the important urban route within Cookstown."

Kennedy added that inconvenience to the travelling public and local businesses would be kept to a minimum as work is carried out.
