Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has welcomed plans to begin two resurfacing schemes costing over £200k in the Craigavon Borough Council area this month.
Roads which will benefit from the planned resurfacing works are U1361 Kernan Road, Portadown and U1019 Killaghy Road, Lurgan.
The Minister said: "As part of its programme of roads maintenance, Roads Service is currently carrying road improvements and resurfacing at Kernan Road, Portadown. The scheme costs £125,000 and will improve the structural condition of the road. The Killaghy Road will be resurfaced at a cost of £90,000."
In order to minimise disruption to traffic on the Kernan Road, and to comply with Health & Safety Regulations, the road will be closed to through traffic from Monday 15 October to Wednesday 24 October inclusive. Whilst the work is in progress, traffic will be diverted via Seagoe Road, Church Road and Lurgan Road. This diversion route will be clearly signed to assist road users.
Work carrying out road improvements and resurfacing at Killaghy Road, Lurgan will be closed to through traffic from Wednesday 17 October to Wednesday 31 October inclusive. Whilst the work is in progress on the Killaghy Road, traffic will be diverted via Castor Bay Road, Lake Street, North Circular Road and Cornakinnegar Road. This diversion route will be clearly signed to assist road users.
The above planned dates of both schemes are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.
