New Site For Children's Hospital To Be Announced

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Bay North, Terence Flanagan TD, has welcomed confirmation from the Minister for Health, Dr James Reilly TD, that a decision regarding the siting of the new Children's Hospital will be made shortly.

He said: ""I am happy to hear that the Minister will bring his decision regarding the preferred location of the Hospital to the Taoiseach and the Tánaiste in the coming weeks.

"One of the four sites being considered is a greenfield site in Belcamp. A hospital at this location would be easily accessible for all, with good transport links on the M50 and the M1, and proximity to Dublin Airport.

"If this site was chosen it would be great news for Dublin Bay North and neighbouring constituencies, creating employment and having a positive knock-on effect on development in the area.

"Following the recent set-back of planning permission being refused for the Children's Hospital at the Mater site, I welcome the Minister’s continued work on this matter and I am delighted that news of the chosen site will be announced soon to allow the project to move forward as quickly as possible."
