Putting Facilities Management In The Frame for Successful Organisations

The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Ireland Conference, supported by ARAMARK and H&J Martin Facilities Management is set to take place in Belfast's Waterfront on 16th November 2012 and will demonstrate the vital role that facilities management plays in the performance of today's successful organisations.

The conference is being held in association with the Irish Property & Facilities Management Association (IPFMA) and will feature an eclectic mix of facilities management (FM) and related speakers and exhibitors from throughout Ireland and the UK. It will also provide a platform for public and private sector professionals with a business interest in FM to share ideas, enhance their knowledge and skills base and network with others in this rapidly growing sector.

Delegates can look forward to topics including reflections on Health and Safety incorporating case-studies during construction and launch of the Titanic and 100 years on; the benefits of energy efficiency at home and in the workplace; business as usual during the major refurbishment of the National Gallery of Ireland; challenges of the new Total FM contract at Channel 4 and a very interesting expose on how to energise your team.

Speaking at the launch Stephen Welch, Chairman, BIFM Ireland Region said: "As one of the fastest growing professions in the UK and Ireland, facilities management (FM) plays a vital role in the success of organisations by contributing to the delivery of strategic and operational objectives and providing a safe and efficient working environment. Our conference aims to raise the profile of FM as a strategic business discipline and part of this we are delighted to unveil an exceptional and diverse line-up of speakers. We look forward to welcoming professionals from throughout the UK and Ireland who want to learn how to use facilities management to improve the effectiveness of their organisation."

Wilton Farrelly, Division Director, H&J Martin Facilities Management also commented: "FM facilitates change within organisations and delivers great value for money on facilities services, which is crucial in the current economic environment. As the importance of the FM sector continues to grow, the BIFM Ireland Conference provides the perfect environment for those working within FM and related sectors to gain inspiration, guidance and support to help them enhance their skills and develop their career."

Ray Taylor, Regional Operations Director, ARAMARK added: "With an increased focus on sustainability, energy management and legislative compliance in facilities, more organisations are realising the potential of FM and the BIFM Ireland Conference covers relevant topics and issues which ensure that delegates can learn new techniques to keep them at the forefront of this fast growing industry."

THE FM industry is estimated to be worth up to £95 billion per annum in the UK alone, with a potential market forecast of £135billion for 2015.
