McCausland Helps Transform Templemore Avenue School

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland has visited the old Templemore Avenue School to mark an important stage in the construction phase to transform a derelict school building into a vibrant Community Network Centre for Inner East Belfast.

Speaking on site at the topping out ceremony Nelson McCausland said: "I am pleased to continue to support the development of this new modern and integrated Community Network Centre on the site of the old Templemore Avenue School. This is a key project in the continued resurgence of the Inner East Belfast area."


Michael Briggs of East Belfast Community Development Association (EBCDA), the managing agent for the project commented: "We are delighted to be able to mark this phase of construction of the East Belfast Network Centre which is the result of collaboration between Government, the Voluntary and Community sector and private funders."

East Belfast Network Centre will offer serviced office space to a range of organisations working in the community and will include facilities such as meeting rooms, a multi-purpose hall, a café and a crèche/day care centre. The future tenants will benefit from savings through sharing resources and the centre will encourage partnership and networking opportunities.
