Speaking at St Joseph’s the Minister said: "I welcome the opportunity to officially open this fantastic new school. My Department invested £1.7million funding in the new building, which will provide an excellent setting for current pupils and future generations to learn and develop in."

The new school building for St Joseph’s Primary School, Madden, was included in the Department’s 2006 Capital Programme. It was one of 13 major capital projects approved in 2010.
Continuing the Minister said: "St Joseph's first opened in the 1800s when there were only two classrooms which were heated by an open fire. There were no inside toilets and the playing field was the road between the school and the chapel. The school has come a long way since those days and I am sure the pupils and the community will benefit from the new facilities for many years to come."
