Executive Delivers For Tenants

Housing Minister Nelson McCausland has said that a scheme to replace windows in North Belfast homes shows the Northern Ireland Executive is delivering for people.

The Minister was speaking during a visit to the White City / Shore Crescent area where the Housing Executive is replacing windows in 225 homes at a cost of £422,000. A previous phase in the area saw new windows replaced in 146 homes at a cost of £261,000.


Minister McCausland said: "Through the Programme for Government the Northern Ireland Executive has set an objective to have the Housing Executive improve the thermal efficiency of their housing stock and provide full double glazing by 2014/15. In recent months the Northern Ireland Executive has allocated an additional £4million to help achieve that objective.

"Programmes such as this in North Belfast show that decisions taken at the Executive table can have direct positive impacts on the lives of people in our communities. The installation of new double glazing not only makes the tenants homes more comfortable, but will help them reduce energy bills."
