There have been angry exchanges over the proposed redevelopment of the former Maze Prison site.
TUV leader Jim Allister has accused the DUP of "rolling over" in regards to Sinn Fein’s push in favour a conflict resolution centre being built on the former prison site. Meanwhile the UUP are also opposed to the development.
Northern Ireland’s Deputy First Minister has spoke out against the opposition saying that the site would bring economic and social regeneration.
In addition Mr Robinson said Mr Allister was content to mire himself in the past. He said he was the opposition to the assembly, not the opposition in the assembly.
The DUP is backing an SDLP amendment to the motion which calls for the building to be developing in a way that is sensitive to victims and survivors.
Mr Allister said: "The DUP is rolling over to Sinn Fein… the hospital wing and other areas will become a shrine and that this was not acceptable to the unionist people."
Sinn Fein MLA Caitríona Ruane said yesterday that the redevelopment of the Long Kesh site would not only create jobs but also be a shining example of how the North accepts diversity.
The South Down MLA was speaking ahead of a motion before the Assembly recognising the potential for the site.
"Sinn Fein supports the development of the site. It has the potential to create jobs and being situated just off the main Dublin to Belfast motorway, it is an easily accessible site from Ireland's two main cities."
