Dublin will celebrate a decade of engineering achievement with an exhibition this week.
The exhibition to be held on Friday at Dublin City Council Civic Offices will feature displays on some of the memorable projects that have transformed Dublin city over the last 10 to 15 years.
These include fascinating insights into how the Dr Santiago Calatrava designed Samuel Beckett Bridge was built in the Netherlands and transferred to Dublin by sea before becoming an iconic part of Dublin's skyline.
Other projects on display include Sillogue Water Tower, Millennium Bridge, the restoration of Ha'penny Bridge and the major engineering feat that is Dublin Port Tunnel.
You’ll also discover a mine of information on areas like how our traffic keeps moving, the fire service, and what happens to the waste you put into your bin.
Lord Mayor Andrew Montague said: "This fascinating exhibition will be of interest to anyone who would like to know more about issues like where our water comes from, how it gets to your tap and what the council does when events like the Big Freeze last winter interrupted our water supply."
"This wonderful exhibition clearly displays the value and results of funding throughout our capital city," said Minister for Education and Skills Ruairí Quinn.
Lord Mayor Montague will launch the exhibition at the Civic Offices Atrium, Wood Quay at 3pm on Friday 23rd September. Minister for Education and Skills Ruairí Quinn will also attend. The exhibition will run at the council offices until Friday 14th October.
