SIAC (NI) Ltd, which is part of the SIAC Construction Group, has announced the appointment of Professor Sir Desmond Rea to its Board.
The appointment is seen as confirmation of the strategic importance of the Belfast-based operation within the Group.
Commenting, Group Chief Executive, Finn Lyden said: "The SIAC Group has successfully diversified and entered other markets which have yielded prestigious projects such as the £10milion redevelopment of Leicester Square in London. The Northern Ireland business operation provides a range of relevant experiences which are important for progression and expansion of the business in the GB market. As such it represents an important gateway for us. The appointment of Sir Desmond to the board reflects the strategic significance of SIAC (NI) Ltd in the overall SIAC Group business plan."
SIAC (NI) Ltd is currently involved in a joint venture with Galliford Try Infrastructure to construct the Connswater Community Greenway, a multi-million pound project which will see the establishment of a linear park through East Belfast along the Connswater, Knock and Loop rivers. The company has also worked on other significant projects across Northern Ireland and will shortly complete the transformation of the parade ground at the former Ebrington Barracks in Londonderry.
