Construction News Image
Construction work is expected to commence in October 2011 on the development of 40-bed residential healthcare unit in Kerry.

The project is located in the Kenmare area of Kerry and will replace the existing 24-bed Kenmare Community Hospital.

Designed by Dublin based architects, Coady Partnership Architects, the project will include a new single and part two-storey, 40 bed residential healthcare unit with associated mental health day care centre and ancillary facilities.

The new hospital will comprise a 14 bed household with an integrated 6 bed dementia unit, a 20 bed central therapy module and related community spaces including dental services, and a discrete ambulance base. As well as this another building containing offices, overnight accommodation and changing facilities will also be erected.

The total floor area of the development is 4,505 sqm and will include a goods delivery area with waste compactor unit and gas and storage tanks. A total of 41 car parking spaces will also be provided with associated vehicular set down areas and hard/soft landscaping to all garden spaces.

Work on the project is expected to take 18 months to complete. A full design team of consultants has been appointed to work on the scheme.

Coady Partnership Architects was founded in 1987. Over the past years they have secured many similar projects including the redevelopment of St Loman’s Hospital, just outside Dublin and the Melvin Park Hospital in Galway.

The senior staff in the firm boost experience of historical building conservation, major public buildings, special needs schools and housing developments.
