Dublin Hosts Annual Roofing Congress

The International Federation for the Roofing Trade (IFD) has announced that Dublin will host their 59th International Congress taking place in November 2011.

This Roofing event will be hosted by the Roofing and Cladding Contractors Association (RCCA) and will take place in the Shelbourne Hotel Dublin from the 3rd – 5th November 2011.

The world's top roofing industry professionals are getting ready to meet in Dublin in order to gain a unique insight into this innovative and dynamic sector. The congress will involve both international and local key note speakers such as Minister for Education and Skills- Ruari Quinn TD, Tom Parlon Director General of the Construction Industry Federation and Sean Stagg, Eastern Area Manager for Sisk.

Newly appointed President to the RCCA Alan Ahearn commented: "We are delighted to once more host this important International roofing event in Ireland. As well as welcoming our international delegates I would urge as many local roofing contractors and architects to attend this unique gathering of like minded professionals. The line- up of speakers and presentations will address a range of opportunities and innovations within our Industry."

Eamonn Costello, spokesman for the RCCA, said: "The last time we staged the Congress in Dublin was in 2002 and I have many very fond memories of this event and the friends I made over the week. This year's Congress will be held in very different times in Ireland as our economy faces many touch decisions and challenges along the way to recovery. Construction output has plummeted, and is expected to fall as low as €8billion during 2011 Yet, there are encouraging signs.

"Ireland has regained lost competitiveness, exports are growing steadily and the country is already in a surplus balance of payments. It is expected that in the short to medium term, Construction in Ireland will once again reach an output level commensurate with a stable developed economy."

The IFD congress aims to offer attendees from Ireland and other EU countries an outlet to share their issues and challenges and in turn offer advice and words of support to those in similar situations.
