Midland Construction Scoop Tech Contract

The main contractor has been appointed for the construction of an extension to the one-storey Focas Institute Building at Dublin Institute of Technology.

The works by Midland Construction generally comprise the addition of a 3rd floor office space to the roof of the existing building at the Focas Research Institute.

The scope includes 3rd floor office with both open and enclosed offices with meetings rooms and toilet facilities. The existing plant-room at roof level is to be moved from its current position to the newly constructed roof level.


This shall comprise of alterations at third floor level consisting of the construction of an additional 410 square metres floor space to be used as academic research laboratories and ancillary accommodation (at the existing lower roof level).

Change of use of the existing 95 square metres plant room to be used as academic research laboratories and ancillary accommodation. Construction of a 95 square metres plant room at the newly constructed fourth floor level and all associated siteworks.

Main construction work is expected to commence on site during early September, 2011 and the contract period is estimated at five months. The cost of the scheme is in the region of €450,000.
