Renowned architects Terry Farrell & Partners have been appointed to lead a team of planning experts, civil and structural engineers, cost consultants/quantity surveyors, transport consultants, environmental-related consultants, archaeologists and property consultants to develop over the next six months, a master plan for the redevelopment of Heuston Station in Dublin.
According to recent newspaper articles, Iarnród Éireann’s plans will be developed mindful of the plans for Diageo's neighbouring St James’s Gate Guinness brewery sit which is also likely to be a commercial development.
This site is being planned for a "post-Dart underground scenario" and therefore it appears dependent on a favourable decisions by Án Bord Pleánala on Dart underground plans and by Minister for Transport on funding in this September's capital projects funding allocations.
This site had been identified along side 3 other sites as a possible site suitable for the construction of a 50m tall high-rise development by the new Dublin City development plan.
The Masterplan is to be developed jointly with Dublin City Council and the National Transport Authority.
The site will incorporate significant retail, commercial and residential development on a site adjoining Ireland’s busiest intercity station. The plans will involve the redevelopment of a 40-acre site surrounding the station stretching from Seán Heuston Bridge to South Circular Road, as well as lands owned by the company on the opposite side of the river Liffey at Conyngham Road.
