Builder Gets Dublin School Extension Job

There's a €3m school extension being planned for Dublin with the main contractor just appointed for the works involved with the construction of a three-storey building extension at St Brigid's National School, Beechpark Lawn, Castleknock, Dublin.

Duggan Brothers Contractors Ltd will construct the building that will accommodate teaching and school administrative accommodation with a single-storey link to the existing school building, a new sports hall building with ancillary accommodation and a single-storey link to the existing school building.


The replacement of the existing covered canopy located in the existing courtyard and external works including two new ball courts, bicycle shelter, emergency access gates to the adjoining church car park and additional school car parking spaces to provide a total of 50 No. school car parking spaces.

Total floor area approved equals 2,606 square metres. Gross floor space of any existing buildings equals 3,290 square metres and demolition works equals 606 square metres.

According to the website, www.unearthore.com, the work is expected to commence on site during July and the value of the scheme is in the region of €3,000,000. Sub-contractors will be appointed in due course.

The architect is BHP and the consulting engineer is Moylan Consulting Engineers.
