Larsen Increase Production To Third Shift

Leading manufacturer of building products Larsen has just commenced a third shift at their £8 million powder plant in Belfast's dockland.

Despite this plant being opened just over two years ago at the beginning of the 'crisis' in the Irish construction industry, the demand for Larsen's products has increased, trebling production and necessitating the powder plant to operate 24 hours a day, five days a week.


Managing Director Peter McGill said: "This is due to the increased demand in the GB market where Larsen have greatly increased their presence particularly in their tiling and streetscape divisions winning projects from the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides to Dover in Kent."

The company has also added 12 jobs as it continues to increase penetration throughout GB.

Mr McGill added: "Our Tiling Division supplies adhesives and grout products throughout GB with particular expansion in the SW. Specialist mortars from our Streetscape Division have been used in projects in Stornaway, Glasgow, Greenock, Kirkaldy, Crewe and Nottingham and of course we have been active in Ireland with projects in Cork, Derry, Downpatrick and Queens University Belfast."
