Dublin-based EcoRoom has confirmed this week the company has signed an agreement with the Tyrone-based rapid-build experts Western Building Systems as part of a major strategic development.
Ray Moylan from EcoRoom said: "The partnership agreement with Western Building Systems provides EcoRoom with manufacturing economies of scale, expertise in off-site building, and the ability to scale up with anticipated growing demand amongst homeowners throughout the UK and Ireland for this next generation solution.
"As long term energy costs increase and governments strive to reduce carbon emissions, it is inevitable that a carbon tax will be levied on houses based on their carbon emissions and energy efficiency.
"There is a slowly growing awareness that a lot more can be achieved without costing a great deal of money when it comes to building comfortable low energy home extensions," he said.
EcoRooms are home extensions and sunrooms inspired by the Scandinavian tradition of using natural materials in an environmentally responsible manner to create beautiful homes that are bright, warm, comfortable, built to last a lifetime, and inexpensive to heat even in the harshest climates.

"They are custom built for any type of home from traditional to contemporary, with external wall finishes ranging from contemporary western red cedar to more traditional render and brick," Ray Moylan also explained.
"High performance A-rated double glazing lets light into the home without the loss of heat and comfort. Insulation and air tightness performance are at least 20% ahead of the latest building regulations in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, and about 25% ahead of Irish regulations. That could be more than 50% better than a 10 year old house."
Designed on timber-framed house principles, factory-built EcoRoom extensions allow rapid installation in as little as five days, avoiding all the stress typically associated with home extending, and have the peace of mind of a 10 year factory certified guarantee.
