Kelleher Opens New Design Centre In Cork

Irish Minister for Trade and Commerce, Billy Kelleher has today officially opened the Texas Instruments Cork Ltd. Power Design Center.

The company moved in to the centre – an engineering research and development office – last year.

Texas Instruments, a global semi-conductor company, created the facility in Cork after acquiring Commergy Technologies in May 2008.

Speaking at the opening, Minister Kelleher said: "I am delighted to be here today for the official opening of this new Texas instruments facility. This move by Texas Instruments demonstrates the company’s commitment to its Irish operation and the innovative work carried out by the company in the global semi-conductor market is in keeping with the Government’s Smart Economy Strategy."

He continued: "Today’s announcement further embeds the company’s presence in Ireland and on behalf of the Irish Government I look forward to providing the necessary support to Texas Instruments in its future growth and development in Ireland."
