Hydrotech Waterproofs Victoria Square

Roofing specialists Alumasc have supplied their Hydrotech MM6125 structural waterproofing system to an award-winning landmark building in the heart of Belfast.

Victoria Square Shopping Centre is a highly-acclaimed scheme from developers Multi Development UK, encompassing 75,000m² of retail, leisure and living space.

The new centre is seen as a sign of confidence in the growth of Belfast and has recently won the 'Best Retail Development Award' at the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards in Dublin.

Architects BDP of Belfast specified Hydrotech based on its proven track record for outstanding long-term performance and the provision of Alumasc’s unrivalled technical support.

Hydrotech is a leading structural waterproofing system, successfully used for over 45 years by architects and specifiers on some of the world’s most prestigious buildings and structures.

The system is a durable, self-healing monolithic waterproofing membrane, which was the first hot-melt waterproofing system to be introduced to the UK construction market. It's formulation of modified bitumens, synthetic rubbers and antioxidants combined with reinforcement, guarantees lifetime performance.

It is manufactured using 20% post-consumer recycled material and is supplied under Alumasc’s ISO 14001: 2004 Environmental Management Standard. In addition, the system is fully warranted, BBA approved and has European Technical Approval ETA-05/0152.

Alumasc Approved Contractors Grainger Building Services of Holywood, installed Hydrotech on all the flat roof areas, main pedestrian areas, loading bays and corridors. Main Contractors on the Victoria Square Project were Farrans and Gilbert-Ash JV.
