Figures from the Irish Wind Energy Association claimed the cost of producing electricity has dropped thanks to strives in the renewable energy sector.
However, the group has warned a lack of government investment in technology could leave Ireland lagging behind other nations.

Around £280,000 is saved on fossil fuel costs every day, with the potential for this amount to rise, provided more emphasis is placed on wind power.
IWEA Chief Executive Michael Walsh stressed the delays in connecting wind farms to the national grid could see Ireland lose out to other low carbon economies.
He warned of a potential 'boom and bust' cycle in the sector, caused by the stalling in capital investments and necessary infrastructure.
Mr Walsh has indicated 10,000 are waiting to be created through this sector over the next decade.
